White House Utility District currently
provides wastewater collection service to
more than 2,000 customers in Sumner County.
Launched in 1995, the WHUD sewer system
brought much anticipated public service to
large areas of the county. In a 1995
newspaper article, then County Executive
Tommy Marlin was quoted as saying, “I don’t
think there is any doubt this will mean a
new day for Sumner County in terms of growth.”
Today, the WHUD sewer system transports
wastewater from homes and businesses to the
City of Nashville’s wastewater system for
treatment and safe disposal. As the region
continues to grow and prosper, these
wastewater facilities will continue to
provide a vital environmental protection
function, minimizing the need for
individual, on lot septic systems. To

Sewer Averaging Program
As is common among sewer service agencies,
White House Utility District estimates your
sewer system usage and subsequent bill,
based on your water use, which is measured
through a water meter. This recognizes that
water taken into the home generally leaves
the home through the sanitary system. To
account for outdoor uses that may not impact
the sewer system, we use an “averaging
program” from April through September each
year. This program prevents our customers
from paying sewer charges on additional
watering (irrigating, swimming pools, etc.)
that commonly take place during this time
period. Averages are based on water usage
from October through March and customers are
not charged over that amount for sewer
billing while the program is in effect.
Averages are automatically calculated each
year. If you are a new customer, you may
qualify for this program by submitting your
six month usage history from a previous
utility company to our Customer Service
Department. |
