10 Feb Nearly half of WHUD employees are licensed operators

The numbers 41 and 58 may seem random, but at WHUD, they carry a lot of meaning. Why?
In 2021, 41 of our 84 employees are licensed operators:
- 25 Grade II Distribution Operators
- 2 Grade III Water Treatment Operators
- 13 Grade IV Water Treatment Operators
- 6 Grade II Collections Operators
- 1 Grade III Wastewater Treatment
- 11 Cross Connection
Almost HALF of our employees hold a water or wastewater license. And all total, our employees hold 58 licenses – several hold licenses in more than one area.
What makes this of particular importance is that water and wastewater operator licenses aren’t easy to come by. They require a months-long training course and independent study, on-the-job experience, and passing a pretty tough written exam. And once the license is earned, employees have to maintain it with ongoing education and training.
