In late October, the more than 90 men and women who make up White House Utility District (WHUD), came together for a weeklong celebration of employees. From an afternoon cornhole tournament to daily Sudoku challenges, the entire event was all catered around two things: appreciating employees and supporting the children in our community. Each event offered opportunities to raise funds or work on special projects that would support the young patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and their families.

By the end of the weeklong celebration, WHUD employees raised approximately $4,200 for the children’s hospital; compiled 1,413 patient activity kits, which included things like greeting cards and pillowcase decorating kits; and collected more than 550 different supplies – everything from shampoo and conditioner to laundry detergent and tissues – for the families who spend so much time at the hospital.
