WHUD Launches Web App for Customers on the Go

Next time you visit WHUD.org on a mobile device, you may notice a new option – to install our new web app! The app is designed to make your mobile visit faster and easier, with more streamlined navigation and layout. It will also allow us to send push notifications for things like important office news and updates, holiday hours or emergency situations.

To install the app on an android mobile device, you can either visit this link from your device, or just visit our website on your device. A display window will appear with instructions on how to download the app to your device home screen. It will also ask if you would like to receive push notifications for important news and information. If at anytime you decide to opt out of the notifications, you can turn them off through the notifications section in your device settings.

To install the app on an iOS operating system, just visit our website, using Safari, from your device. A similar display window will appear, prompting you to install the WHUD app on your phone, but for iOS system users, you will need to add the app to your home screen by clicking the “add” button (see the image to the right). One note: iOS systems are not yet able to receive the push notifications. We will post any important news or updates to the news section at the bottom of the app. NOTE: If the display window doesn’t appear, try clearing your cache and re-opening the browser. To clear your cache, go to your phone’s settings, select the Safari app, and choose the option to “Clear History and Website Data”.

You can also now receive notifications on a desktop device. A pop-up window will appear when you visit our website, asking if you’d like to receive notifications. Click “allow” to install the app and begin receiving notifications. The notifications will appear on your screen, much like a new email or other notification. And just like an app on your phone, the desktop notifications will appear on your desktop whether the web app is open or not. If at any point you decide you no longer want to receive these notifications, visit your computer’s notifications settings to unsubscribe.
